The Rolling Stones Lips Urn Topper
Because urns are such personal and important ways to honor loved ones and store their cremains, it's becoming more common for people to design custom 3D-printed urns that are specific to their loved one's passions. The options are nearly unlimited, which can give you something that's truly made for someone you loved and cherished to help remember them after they're gone.

About the Rolling Stones Lips Urn Topper
This custom urn was the easiest print we've ever done, but it still had a great deal of meaning for the customer who ordered it. Our customer lost a loved one who was a big fan of The Rolling Stones, and while they weren't looking for a uniquely shaped urn, they wanted to have an urn topper they could add to a more standard urn. Part of the beauty of 3D-printing is that we can also print toppers and other items that can work with classic urns and fit any style or design plan.
Inspiration
Anyone who knows about The Rolling Stones and their music has likely seen the 'lips and tongue' design that's on their albums and at their shows. It's become fully associated with them, and this logo was the perfect symbol to represent The Rolling Stones and memorialize the deceased's love for their music.
Process
Creating the Model
Creating a custom urn model starts with using some software programs which are specifically designed to create 3D models. This takes time, as we have to be sure the model is accurate and we want to get the final design perfect. Once the model is created, we send our customers a preview for approval so it can go to the printer.
Printing
It can take as long as 24 hours to print an urn, and that's mostly dependent on the size of it and the detail involved. This one was able to be printed a little faster, since it was a topper and didn't include a lot of fine detail work.
Post-Printing Process
After printing, we checked the topper for quality, let it harden, and cleaned up anything that wasn't just right. We know how important it is for the urn or topper to look just like the customer envisions it, and we don't want to leave anything undone.
Painting
We have an in-house painting team, and once they get the urn their job is to make sure it looks as realistic as the customer expects. For this topper, we used a rich, bright red paint along with white accents to highlight the bow of the lips and parts of the tongue.

Final Touches
White teeth were part of the final touch, along with making sure that the accented areas drew the eye and worked to make the end result just what the customer was looking for. While this urn topper didn't require as much detail as others, we still wanted to be sure it fit our customer's request and gave them some closure.
Urn Details

With white on the teeth, tongue, and bow of the lips, this urn topper clearly matches the design of The Rolling Stones' lips and tongue symbol. Anyone familiar with the band and their music would recognize that the deceased was a fan.
The tongue specifically needed the white stripes on the red background to give the illusion of shine and reflection. This worked out really well for the customer and looks good both close up and further away.

From the top you can see both the white stripes on the tongue and the white accents that were used on the bow of the lips, to indicate a shiny surface and capture the spirit of the original symbol used by the band.
Gallery
This 3D print rests on top of one of our wooden urns to add some playful expressiveness to a classic urn choice. It's a fitting tribute to someone who was a big fan of the band and would have appreciated having their symbol as part of their memorial space.
Behind the Scenes
We printed and painted multiple copies of this model to make sure we had a perfect piece from the batch to give our customer. Our team is committed to making sure every detail of your custom urn turns out the way you envisioned it for your loved one.
